Rally is a fun, engaging dog sport that builds teamwork, focus, and communication between dog and handler. In AKC Rally, you and your dog work through a course of numbered signs, each one asking you to perform a different obedience exercise like sits, turns, fronts, downs, and stays. It’s a fantastic way to sharpen everyday obedience skills while having fun and building a stronger bond with your dog.

This class is a great fit for teams who want to try a new sport, improve basic manners, and enjoy learning together. Even if you never plan to compete, Rally is an excellent way to strengthen loose-leash walking, attention, responsiveness, and teamwork in a positive, rewarding environment. You and your dog will learn the current AKC Novice Rally exercises while growing confidence and connection every step of the way.

What You’ll Learn

In Rally class, you and your dog will learn how to work together as a team while building the skills needed to navigate an AKC Rally course with confidence. You’ll be introduced to the current AKC Novice signs and exercises, while also strengthening the everyday obedience skills that make Rally such a valuable and rewarding sport. Along the way, you’ll improve communication, focus, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

Class work may include:

• Proper heel position and improved loose-leash walking
• Sit, down, stay, and other core obedience skills
• Fronts, finishes, pivots, and turns
• Attention and responsiveness around distractions

What to Bring

• High-value treats (soft and irresistible!)
• A flat buckle collar (no tags dangling)
• 4 or 6 foot leash
• Clicker if you already train with one
• Water and a bowl
• A crate bed and/or cover (we have crates available, but you can bring your own if you'd like) 
• Clean running shoes
• A positive, patient mindset — this is all about building trust and having fun together

Intro to Rally

Our Intro to Rally class is the perfect starting point for dogs and handlers who are new to the sport or looking to build a stronger obedience foundation. Teams will learn Novice signs and exercises while beginning to explore Intermediate and Advanced-level concepts, helping dogs and handlers build confidence, teamwork, and the skills needed to grow in Rally or simply enjoy better everyday communication.

Prerequisites:

• Dogs must be at least 6 months old
• Basic manners required (sit, down, stay, come, loose-leash walking)
• Completion of a basic obedience class recommended
